IRONSTONE ENERGY

Welcome to our project page providing information on our proposals for a new anaerobic digestion plant on farmland off Gunby Road, Sewstern.

The new plant would utilise a variety of crops grown locally to the site to produce green gas (biomethane), a form of renewable energy. This plant will build long-term farming partnerships and support the rural economy.

ANAEROBIC DIGESTION PLANT

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Our proposals would produce enough renewable green energy in the form of natural gas to heat a town roughly the size of Grantham.

The plant would produce green gas from a variety of crops grown as part of a sustainable rotation in the local area, replacing the natural (fossil) gas currently used.

Our proposal includes plans to create a new access track in order to minimise any impact of farming traffic on the immediate local road network.

The project would deliver a range of local benefits, including the creation of new green jobs during construction and operation, a community fund, and a programme of biodiversity enhancements and extensive native species planting as part of the landscaping scheme.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

In addition, the CO2 created at the proposed plant would be fed into the Northern Lights project, which is the world’s first open-source carbon capture and storage facility.

A comprehensive programme of engagement will take place with the local community prior to the submission of an application for planning consent.
